Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to reinforce its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Situations

These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and proved successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Described as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” following six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the nation was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed had been at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Numerous of additional structures were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Destruction

Russian forces were firing hundreds of aerial bombs daily, with last month’s daily average being about 170, according to official military statistics.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – equivalent to 2% of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Sanctions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after recent sanctions from Western nations and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from all houses of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
