The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, making him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their performance this season.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he continued.

Toronto's team won the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
