Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
