Disaster Hits as Inadvertent Detonation at Law Enforcement Facility in Indian-administered Kashmir Takes Nine Lives
A tragic detonation at a law enforcement facility in the Kashmir region under Indian control has caused the fatalities of nine persons and wounding to thirty-two more, according to authority reports.
The occurrence happened when a cache of impounded blast substances unintentionally detonated during handling procedures.

The blast occurred on Friday evening at the Nowgam police station, where explosive materials seized from Faridabad region in the northern state of Haryana province were being held provisionally.
Area police chief announced that the explosives were awaiting forensic examination when a "deeply regrettable" accident during handling led to their explosion at approximately 23:20 local time.
Authority Statements
Security forces verified that this was an "inadvertent blast" and not a terror incident. "Any other speculation regarding the reason of this incident is unwarranted," stressed the police chief during a press briefing.
The police station experienced extensive destruction from the detonation, with adjacent buildings also being impacted by the strong explosion.
Impact and Casualties
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and transformed into ashen remains, with fragments distributed across the location," according to authority statements.
"The force of the explosion was so powerful that some human remains were recovered from adjacent homes, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the police station," mentioned an police contact.
The majority of the fatalities were police officers, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a garment worker who was accompanying the group.
Government Response
The area's Regional Leader stated condolences and declared that an investigation had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have ordered a investigation to determine the reason of the accidental explosion. Deeply anguished by the fatalities of important persons due to extremely tragic unintentional explosion at Nowgam police station in Srinagar. My condolences to the mourning loved ones. I wish for quick healing of the injured," stated the authority on social media.
